Hans-Jürgen Nilson

Hans-Jürgen Nilson (born before 1974) is a former German basketball referee . Among other things, he led numerous games in the basketball league and the first women's basketball league and is the recipient of the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Association .

career

As a player, Nilson was part of the first men's team in the club's history of MTV Bad Bevensen , which began playing in 1974. In December 1974 he was one of the co-founders of the Lüneburg regional basketball association, and from 1979 he was 2nd chairman, referee expectant and member of the legal and referee committee of the newly established Lüneburg regional basketball association. From 1982 Nilson was chairman of the basketball department of MTV Bad Bevensen.

In 1986 Nilson passed the examination for the A referee license and from 1986/87 also led games in the women's Bundesliga and the 2nd men's Bundesliga , as well as appearances in international matches for youth national teams. In the 1992/93 season he was awarded the Silver Badge of Honor by the Basketball District Association for his services in refereeing. In 1999 he was promoted to the referee squad for the basketball Bundesliga and from then on also led matches in the top German division. Nilson was awarded the Silver Badge of Honor by the German Basketball Association in the 2000/01 season for leading more than 290 Bundesliga games and a total of more than 1000 basketball games.

After his career as a Bundesliga referee, Nilson was appointed commissioner by the German Basketball Association, he also coached referees for the Basketball Regionalliga Nord eV and was involved in referee training in Lower Saxony. In 2008 Nilson was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Federation.
