Hans-Jürgen Ries

Hans-Jürgen Ries (born December 26, 1943 ) is a German table tennis player . He was GDR champion six times.

Career

Ries played in the 1960s for the club BSG Carl Zeiss Jena , with whose men's team he was GDR champions in 1968 and 1969. He later moved to BSG Stahl Finow , with whom he won the title in 1976, 1983 and 1984. In the 1980s he worked as a trainer at BSG Stahl Finow.

In 1976 he won the GDR championships in doubles with Siegfried Lemke . He made it to the final several times: in doubles in 1969 with Klaus Auerswald, 1972 with Heinz Amft and 1977 with Siegfried Lemke, in mixed 1982 with Diana Flach (Rösler). In 1976 he led the DTTV ranking.

He was appointed to the GDR national team to take part in the International Championships in Romania.

After a stopover at the BMK Ost Fürstenwalde association, he returned to BSG Stahl Finow in 1990. From this the club TTC Finow Gewo Eberswalde and later the ESV Eberswalde emerged, where Ries still played in the 2008/09 season.
