Hans-Jürgen van Schewick

Hans-Jürgen van Schewick (* 1943 in Sonneberg ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

Career

Van Schewick studied law at the University of Bonn . After passing the Second State Examination in Law, he joined the judicial service of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1973 . Here he was appointed judge at the Cologne Administrative Court. From July 1978 van Schewick was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant for 3 ½ years . In June 1981 he was appointed judge at the Higher Administrative Court in Münster .

On May 2, 1989, van Schewick was finally appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court, where he was assigned to the 3rd Revision Senate responsible for burden equalization and compensation law, health administration law, food and agriculture law, and traffic and subsidy law. From May 1997 he was deputy chairman of this Senate. On April 1, 2008, he retired.

Van Schewick was chairman of the Diocesan Council of Catholics in the Archdiocese of Berlin and is a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics . He is the father of the legal scholar Barbara van Schewick .
