Hans-Jakob Heger (born March 23, 1938 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German industrial entrepreneur. He was the managing director of the HegerGuss company . Under his leadership, the casting company was one of the first medium-sized companies to use casting process simulation in 1993 . He developed the necessary software together with Helmut Neunzert (founder of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics in Kaiserslautern ). Today Hans-Jakob Heger is a member of the advisory board of the Heger Group.

Career

Heger was born in Kaiserslautern in 1938. He spent his childhood in Enkenbach. After graduating from the Moll-Gymnasium in Mannheim, he continued his education at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . There he graduated in 1965 with a degree in mechanical engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) In the field of process engineering.

In 1963, Hans-Jakob Heger joined the family company Heger & Müller, Eisenwerk Enkenbach GmbH. Two years later he took over the management of the company from his father Hans Heger, which he in turn passed on to his son Johannes in 2002. In 2008 he participated as a partner in the founding of the new HegerFerrit GmbH foundry in Sembach.

He is married and has three children.

Association activity

Hans-Jakob Heger was involved in numerous industrial and business associations. He often took on board positions. From 1975 to 1991 he was a member of the board of the Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry eV From 1987 he was also a member of the Presidium and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Iron Casting Association.

In 1974, Hans-Jakob Heger also played an important role in the Association of the Palatinate Metal and Electrical Industry (PfalzMetall). He had already been on the board for eight years when he took over as chairman in 1982. In 2002 he resigned from this position and was appointed honorary president of the Association of the Palatinate Metal and Electrical Industry (PfalzMetall).

Hans-Jakob Heger also exerted particular influence as a member of the board of directors of the Gesamtmetall employers' association from 1982 to 2002. From 1995 to 1998 he was on the executive committee for three years, during which time he acted as treasurer. In 1991, Heger became chairman of the Neustadt an der Weinstraße eV industrial association. After seven years, he left this position, but remained a member of the board until 2004. In addition, Heger was deputy chairman of the State Association of Entrepreneurs' Associations Rhineland-Palatinate (LVU) from 1996-2004.

Heger & Müller, Eisenwerk Enkenbach GmbH was one of the first companies to employ guest workers from Italy. In 1959 Hans-Jakob Heger traveled to Verona in order to recruit suitable staff on site. 15 Italians joined the foundry company in February 1960, and 30 more followed over the next two years. The foreign workers were housed in a specially built dormitory on the company premises.

A few years later the company employed Greeks who had already worked for other German companies. It was followed by Turkish employees who had been recruited in their home country. More and more living space was created for foreign workers and language lessons were also offered.

Engagement in Kaiserslautern

Hans-Jakob Heger is a sponsor of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern . In particular , he supports the Villa Denis conference center with donations. From 1992 to 2001 Hans-Jakob Heger was also a member of the board of trustees of the University of Kaiserslautern and its deputy chairman.

As a founding member of the Association for Building Culture and Urban Design Kaiserslautern eV, the cityscape of Kaiserslautern is close to his heart. In addition, Hans-Jakob Heger is a member of various service clubs in Kaiserslautern.
