Hans-Joachim Jarchow

Hans-Joachim Jarchow (born August 16, 1935 in Oldenburg in Holstein ) is a German economist who researched and taught as a professor at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen from 1967 to 2003 . His main research interests were in particular macroeconomics , credit systems , monetary foreign trade theories and international currency policy .

Life

Jarchow was born in Oldenburg in Holstein in 1935. From 1955 to 1959 he studied business administration and economics, first in Hamburg , then moved to Kiel , where he graduated with a degree in economics . He obtained his doctorate in 1961 with a critically comparative study on selected growth models, also in Kiel, as a Dr. sc. pol. and then worked as a research assistant at Erich Schneider , first as an assistant and then as a senior assistant at the Institute for World Economy . 1966 followed his habilitation with the topic "Theoretical studies on the liquidity problem". Jarchow took over the economics chair in Göttingen in 1967 until his retirement in 2003 .

Jarchow is also a member of the Verein für Socialpolitik and there in particular the Committee on Monetary Theory and Monetary Policy and the American Economic Association .
