biography

Kipka worked in the 1950s and 1960s as a singer in various music groups in the field of hit music . Frequent partners were Richard Gatermann, Kurt Stephan and Martin Berndt, with whom he sometimes appeared under the names Die Riverboys , Das Roland-Trio and Die singenden Waldmusikanten . In 1957 he came to replace Kurt Grysok, who had emigrated to Canada, to fill Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys . Kipka stayed in the formation until 1961, but in contrast to his predecessor Grysok, who also played clarinet, saxophone and piano, took over vocal parts.

In addition to music, Kipka found another broad field of activity in the field of radio play production . His voice could be heard especially in productions based on novels by Karl May , often under the direction of his former singing partner Kurt Stephan, with whom he also worked in the ensemble of the North German Puppet Theater. For a two-part production of Old Shatterhand - So was the wild west of the music label PMC after the presentation of the third Winnetou volume by Karl May, he even lent his voice to the title character in 1976.

In July 2008, Kipka died in Hamburg at the age of 79.
