Hans-Joachim Mewes

Hans-Joachim Mewes (born September 1, 1954 in Oschersleben ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2006 to 2016 he was a member of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Hans-Joachim Mewes graduated from the Polytechnic High School in Ampfurth in 1971 . Between 1971 and 1975 he attended the Institute for Teacher Training in Magdeburg . This was followed from 1984 to 1985 by direct studies at the "Clara Zetkin" college of education in Leipzig, which he completed in 1987 with a diploma. In 1989 Mewes began postgraduate studies at the Philosophy Section of the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg. Two years later, in 1991, the degree program was suspended by the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Science and Culture.

Between 1975 and 1988 Mewes was employed as a teacher in the department for public education in Magdeburg-Nord. From 1988 to 1992 he worked as a teacher at the company vocational school. Between 1992 and 2006 he was a clerk at Deutsche Bundespost in the telecommunications sector and then at Deutsche Telekom .

Mewes is an honorary judge . He is married and has two children.

politics

Hans-Joachim Mewes was a member of the SED from 1977 to 1990 . Between 1994 and 1999 he was a knowledgeable citizen in the education, school, sport and youth welfare committees in Magdeburg . From 1999 and 2004 he was city councilor of Magdeburg. Mewes has been a knowledgeable citizen in the Education, School, Sport Magdeburg committee since 2004. In 2005 Mewes joined the Die Linke.PDS party .

In March 2006 , Mewes was elected to the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt via constituency 10 ( Magdeburg I ). There he was a member of the Committee on Federal and European Affairs as well as the Media and the Petitions Committee. In the state elections in March 2011 , he won the direct mandate in the Magdeburg I constituency. In parliament he was elected chairman of the petitions committee. In 2016 he left the state parliament.
