history

Ampfurth was first mentioned in a document in 1144. Friedrich and Hugold de Amfriedeslove became lay judges at the Seehausen Count's Court (Börde) . However, the origins of the settlement are believed to have been in the 9th century at the time of Charlemagne . The village was probably built around the old castle complex. Another mention was made on January 11, 1145. Pope Lucius II takes the Berge monastery in Magdeburg under his protection and confirms its ownership and a. in Amfrideslove . The castle was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 12th century, and it still exists today in a modified form. In 1257 the village was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg .

In the vicinity of Ampfurth, stones were broken for the construction of Magdeburg Cathedral . There is a mention of so-called Domkuhlen from 1365 .

In the 15th century, the place fell into the hands of the Lords of Asseburg . The Christ Church Ampfurth , which is located in the center of the village, was now part of an old manor house. At that time a castle chapel, it was subject to a number of renovations over the centuries. Parts of the choir could date from the times of the noble family in the 15th century, while the central nave was built around 1570. Using the medieval remains, a further renovation was carried out around 1608, which is reminiscent of Slavic building elements. On the one hand, the building has strictly Gothic forms. On the other hand, the renaissance character comes to the fore in the existing grave monuments. Around 1806 the church was expanded to include a mansion box. An exact dating of the origin of the building cannot be determined according to the current status.

From July 1, 1950 to June 29, 1990, the former municipality of Schermcke belonged to Ampfurth as a district. Since July 1, 2009 Schermcke has also been part of Oschersleben (Bode).

The community belonged from 1994 to January 17, 2003 to the administrative community "Börde" Seehausen / Klein Wanzleben .
