history

The Evangelical Church of St. Stephen , an original building from the middle of the 13th century, was rebuilt and expanded in the Renaissance style around 1600 . Today it belongs to the Egeln parish.

The catholic church Sankt Norbertus was named after Norbert von Xanten . The foundation stone was laid in 1913 and it was consecrated in 1914. In 1999 the State Office for Monument Preservation added the church to the list of monuments. Today the church, which has only been used rarely since 2006, belongs to the parish of St. Marien , based in Oschersleben.

A castle is mentioned as early as the 12th century. In 1373 ownership changed to the von der Asseburg family . In 1396 Archbishop Albrecht pledged the castle and village of Schermcke for 200 marks to Busso von Berwinkel (family property until 1489). In 1511 a new four-wing castle was built. In 1720 the castle becomes a Prussian domain. In 1900 ownership changed to Ernst Wrede, who built a two-storey castle on the walls of the old castle in 1902. In 1945 the owners were expropriated and evicted by the communists. After that, the castle served temporarily as the seat of the people's estate , as a kindergarten, community nurse station and community office as well as for residential purposes. The building is privately owned and gives little indication of its former glory.

The Schermcke farm at Breite Straße 6 is the oldest half-timbered house in the village.

For exactly 40 years from July 1, 1950 to June 30, 1990, Schermcke was part of the municipality of Ampfurth , which today also belongs to the city of Oschersleben. The persistence of the Schermcker brought independence on July 1, 1990. Since 1995 the community has had a coat of arms (former post mill), a flag and a seal.

As part of the village renewal, the village square and the community courtyard have been redesigned in recent years.

Voluntary fire brigade, rifle club, sports club, brass band and the civic association shape community life, which includes the traditional autumn and harvest festival.

The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, which opened in 1997, is four kilometers south of Schermcke .

Schermcke was incorporated into Oschersleben (Bode) on July 1, 2009.
