The church was built between 1867 and 1869 according to plans by Arnold Güldenpfennig in the neo-Gothic style ; it was consecrated in 1872 by Bishop Konrad Martin . It was built of brick and, in addition to the main nave, has two aisles and five bays . There are buttress arches above the aisles. The choir is polygonal with side extensions. The upper aisle of the main nave has round windows, which are framed by a wide pointed arch.

The tower with its three bells stands on a square floor plan north of the ship, but is included in the ship. A small, also square stair tower leads to the area below the belfry, from where the roof structure can be entered. A window simulated with tracery adorns the entrance to the church above the portal.

The nave and choir are vaulted with ribs . The main nave is separated from the two side aisles by rectangular pillars on which wide pointed arches rest. On the north side, the gallery with the organ rises above the main portal , which was created by the organ building company Jehmlich from Dresden . The organ prospect is based on the neo-Gothic style of the church. The organ has 2 manuals , a pedal, 22 registers and a mechanical slide box . The organ consecration took place on December 5th, 1997. Noteworthy is a crucifix , the so-called plague cross from 1360, which can be found in the right aisle, as well as a radiated Madonna in the winged high altar of the church, which was built in the period 1470/80. The side wings of the altar show the Annunciation and the Descent from the Cross . The equipment also includes a baptismal font , 14 stations of the cross , a confessional , and statues of Saints Anthony of Padua , Elisabeth of Thuringia and Joseph of Nazareth . A relief depicts the Lamb of God with the victory flag . In the anteroom of the church there is a Pietà , in front of which sacrificial candles can be placed.
