St. Johannes Baptist (Ottleben)
The Sankt Johannes Baptist Church is the Catholic church in Ottleben , a district of the community Ausleben in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the parish of St. Marien with its seat in Oschersleben in the Egeln deanery of the Magdeburg diocese . The church named after St. John the Baptist is located at Triftstraße 4 (corner of Schmiedeberg).
history
In the 16th century, the population and the 13th century St. Stefani Church in Ottleben became Evangelical-Lutheran through the introduction of the Reformation .
As a result of the Second World War , Catholics, predominantly Bukowina Germans, settled in the Ottleben area. In 1958 the church was set up in a former cowshed.
On October 13, 2007 the community association "Eilsleben - Großalsleben - Hadmersleben - Hamersleben - Hötensleben - Klein Oschersleben - Oschersleben - Sommerschenburg - Völpke" was established, to which the church belonged from then on. On November 28, 2010, today's parish “St. Marien ". The 2011 census in the European Union showed that of the 1755 inhabitants of the political community Ausleben, 71, or around 4%, belonged to the Roman Catholic Church.
Architecture and equipment
The church is about 115 meters above sea level . The cross on the roof turret does not have two cross bars, as usual, but three. A cross bar points in every direction, and from every direction it is recognizable as a cross. There is a bell in the roof turret .
The church stalls leave a central aisle free and can accommodate 132 visitors. The sanctuary is dominated by a crucifix . The Marian altar is placed to the side of the celebration altar, a statue depicts Mary with a rosary . The interior also includes 14 stations of the cross , a harmonium and a confessional .
