The Kniel is a mountain in the area of the city of Oschersleben (Bode) in Saxony-Anhalt , northwest of the village of Schermcke . Its height is 205 meters.
The mountain rises significantly above the rather flat landscape of the Magdeburg Börde , which adjoins it to the east, and thus enables a wide view of the country. Until about the 1960s there was a tower serving as a trigonometric point for land surveying on its summit .
Natural allocation
On sheet 87 Braunschweig of the natural spatial structure, the knee was assigned to the high wood (unit 512.30), but it is separated from the forest area. He is the basis of südsüdwestliche to North northeast to about Druxberge reaching out Druxberger hills (512.53), a storage terminal moraine , whose eastern slope today as western boundary of Magdeburg is considered (504).
