Moritz Wilhelm von der Asseburg

Moritz Wilhelm von der Asseburg (born August 8, 1698 at Ampfurth Palace ; † April 11, 1780 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian major general and since 1747 a knight of the Pour le Mérite order .

Life

origin

He was the son of Friedrich Aswin von der Asseburg († March 3, 1720) and his wife Johanna Sidonie, born von Hagen called Geist (* 1663; † April 14, 1705).

Military career

From 1715 he served in the "Alt-Anhalt" infantry regiment , where he was promoted to captain . From June 2, 1729 he served in the "von Arnim" infantry regiment , trading with the captain von Schmiedeberg . After further promotions, etc. a. on May 24, 1747 to colonel , Asseburg then came to the regiment of Prince Ferdinand. On January 20, 1757 he became chief of the Kleist regiment on foot and major general. In March 1759 he was dismissed and received a salary of 1000 thalers.

He took part in all campaigns between 1740 and 1759. On September 12, 1745 he survived a shot in the head by an Austrian Uhlan in an attack on the Prussians near Lauban .

After the Seven Years' War he became lieutenant governor of Magdeburg. He died here in 1780.

family

Asseburg was married to Dorothee Magdalene Junge (* August 16, 1722, † July 21, 1801) since 1767. The couple had the following children:

Since the children were born out of wedlock, they could not inherit the feudal property and were resigned by their nephews.
