Hans-Joachim Sommer

Hans-Joachim Sommer (born November 30, 1930 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper who played 69 league games for Meidericher SV .

Career

Sommer played football at VfB 03 Bielefeld before he was signed by Meidericher SV from Duisburg , who had been promoted to Oberliga West , in the run-up to the 1956/57 season . The Oberliga West represented the top division in the then regionally limited league system. Already in his first year at MSV he was able to prevail against the previous goalkeeper Erwin Pajonk and managed to stay up with the promoted team. In 1957/58, the MSV even finished fourth, which was largely due to the second few goals conceded in the league. During the course of this season, Sommer had an encounter against Borussia DortmundBroken his thumb, but played the game to the end due to the lack of substitution options at the time. Subsequently, he had to be temporarily represented by Pajonk.

After three years as the first goalkeeper, he had to give way to Pajonk in the 1959/60 season and was therefore rarely called up. In 1960 he said goodbye to Meiderich after 69 league appearances in four years.
