Erwin Pajonk (born February 10, 1928 ) is a German former football goalkeeper who played for Meidericher SV for many years and played 132 matches in the Oberliga West for them.

Career

Pajonk was one of the first players at Meidericher SV who were back on the field for the club after the end of World War II . In the goalkeeping position, however, he had a competitor through his teammate Girath, which is why he was not used continuously at the time. Due to the difficult overall situation in the heavily destroyed Ruhr area, there was no regular league operation in the season 1945/46, but only a Duisburg city championship in which the MSV was able to prevail against their main rival Duisburg game club . From 1949 the team was a member of the 2nd League West , in which they played for promotion to the league. The league represented the top division in the then regionally limited league system. With Walter Tannemann there was a competitor for the role of goalkeeper at that time. This was initially usually preferred, but Pajonk was able to prevail during the 1950/51 season. At the end of his first year as the first goalkeeper, he became champions with the team, which resulted in the desired promotion to the first division.

In the league, the MSV was able to establish itself in the first few years, where Pajonk was able to maintain his role. His ritual of placing his son's plush zebra in the goal net before the start of the game - based on the club's mascot - became famous in the 1950s. At the beginning of March 1952, however, he suffered a fractured cheekbone and then had to go through Tannemann and Wilhelm Faust for months - the one with him competed for the goalkeeping position in the following years - be represented. In 1955 he had to accept the relegation of his team, before the promotion succeeded again the following year. In the run-up to the 1956/57 season, a goalkeeper, Hans-Joachim Sommer , was committed who was able to push him out of the first team. However, Pajonk repeatedly moved up as a substitute for injuries in the summer. For the duration of the 1959/60 season, he was even able to displace summer entirely. Subsequently, he served again as a reservist for the newly signed goalkeeper Erich Staude , before he ended his career after 132 league games and 57 matches in the 2nd division West during the summer break in 1961. After the end of his time as a contract player , he was still active as an amateur for Meidericher SV.
