Erich Staude (born February 11, 1938 in Bielefeld ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Major league years with Meiderich (1960–1963)

Staude began his career as a striker at Union 02 Bielefeld and later became a goalkeeper. In young adulthood he guarded the gate of the Westphalian amateur club SpVgg Fichte Bielefeld , with whom he competed in the Association League Westphalia , the highest amateur league. In 1960 he transferred to the Oberliga West antretenden Meidericher SV . The Oberliga West was then the top division in the regionally limited league system. With the Meidericher he was part of a team that consisted mainly of its own youth forces, and served as a goalkeeper for Hans-Joachim Sommer , who was originally from Bielefeld and left the MSV again this year. On August 14, 1960, at the age of 22, he reached his league debut in a 5-2 win against TSV Marl-Hüls . He was then placed between the posts as number one, but in the summer of 1961, Friedhelm Jesse from league rivals Westfalia Herne, a competitor who ousted him immediately, was committed. Accordingly, from then on he hardly played a role and only experienced as a substitute player that MSV was able to qualify for the newly created Bundesliga in 1963. By then he had been on the field 22 times in the major league.

With the MSV in the Bundesliga (1963–1967)

Although Staude belonged to the first Bundesliga squad of Meidericher SV in the 1963/64 season, Manfred Manglitz was a goalkeeper who demoted Friedhelm Jesse to a substitute. Therefore, he only had the role of a spectator when the eleven who were considered relegation candidates under coach Rudi Gutendorf became a surprise team in the first edition of the Bundesliga and even became runner-up at the end of the season. Nevertheless, he remained loyal to the club and was able to make his Bundesliga debut on January 2, 1965 in a 2-0 defeat against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In the course of the game he showed a decent performance and only had to accept the second goal when Meiderich threw everything forward in the final phase in order to avert the impending defeat. A 2-2 draw against Hertha BSC on March 20, 1965 was his second and last Bundesliga appearance. He was still in the squad of Meidericher SV, which was renamed MSV Duisburg in January 1967, but was no longer used.

Back in the amateur camp (from 1967)

Staude returned to SpVgg Fichte Bielefeld and moved to Spvg Steinhagen in 1968 , with whom he was promoted to the Westphalia Association a year later. He settled down in Steinhagen and worked as a plumber for the Bielefeld municipal utility . After the end of his playing career, he became a coach at Spvg Steinhagen, BV Werther , SC Halle , TuS Solbad Ravensberg and TG Hörste . His younger brother Horst Staude was also a goalkeeper and played for the DJK Gütersloh in the Regionalliga West.
