Amylmetacresol (AMC) is a chemical compound that is derived from phenol as well as from toluene or from m -cresol . It is used together with 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol as an antiseptic to treat infections in the mouth and throat. It comes in the form of lozenges, a solution or a spray.

effect

Amylmetacresol has a disinfectant effect against viruses, bacteria, fungi and yeasts. An analgesic effect has also been shown in clinical studies.
