Hans-Peter Goetz (born June 29, 1961 in Magdeburg ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament .

Hans-Peter Goetz grew up in Teltow from 1962 and attended the Polytechnic High School there from 1968 to 1976 . From 1976 to 1980 he completed the extended special high school (today: Weinberg-Gymnasium) in Kleinmachnow and passed his Abitur there in 1980. He then served as a contract soldier from 1980 to 1983 and studied law at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1983 to 1987 . From 1987 to 1990 he completed postgraduate studies at the Academy for Law and Political Science in Potsdam-Babelsberg . During this time he was also a member of the SED until 1989 . Since 1990 he has been a lawyer in Teltow with a focus on administrative law .

Hans-Peter Goetz is a member of the FDP and was a member of the FDP state executive in Brandenburg from 1999 to 2019. From 2005 to 2007 he was deputy state chairman and from March 2007 to March 2010 General Secretary of the FDP Brandenburg. From 2013 Goetz was again deputy state chairman of the Brandenburg FDP.

In terms of local politics, he has been parliamentary group leader in the city ​​council of Teltow since 2003 and from 2004 to 2010 and again since 2014 as parliamentary group chairman of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district council .

On September 27, 2009, he ran as the top candidate of the FDP Brandenburg for the state election , in which the Brandenburg liberals achieved their best result since reunification with 7.2% and were able to rejoin the Brandenburg state parliament. After the state election, Goetz became parliamentary group leader of the FDP in the state parliament of Brandenburg. On July 17, 2010 Goetz announced that he would resign as chairman of the parliamentary group on August 15, 2010 due to a lack of support in the parliamentary group. Andreas Büttner was elected as his successor on August 31st . In the following state election on September 14, 2014, the FDP left the Brandenburg state parliament with 1.5%. This also ended Hans-Peter Goetz's mandate in the state parliament.

On February 16, 2019 Goetz was again elected as the top candidate of the Brandenburg FDP for the state election on September 1, 2019. After the party failed to make it into the state parliament again with 4.1%, Goetz resigned as deputy state chairman. This ended his membership in the state board after 20 years.

Hans-Peter Goetz is married, has two children and lives in Teltow.
