Hans-Peter Kau

Hans-Peter Kau (born November 19, 1959 - † May 5, 2013 ) was a German mechanical engineer and university professor .

Life

Kau studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University with a focus on energy technology and turbo machines and received his doctorate in 1990 with a thesis on the calculation of the two-dimensional, unsteady flow through axial turbo machine grids with an explicit time-step method .

He went to BMW Rolls-Royce in 1991 . There he played a key role in the development of the BR 700 series of jet engines . He was the head of development and construction of the high-pressure compressor, later component testing and finally head of the engine analysis division.

In 1998 he came to the Technical University of Munich , where he was professor of aircraft propulsion and from 2007 to 2012 dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering .
