Hans-Reiner Schmidt

Hans-Reiner Schmidt (born June 11, 1958 in Willingshausen -Zella) is a German composer and musician.

Musical vita

Hans-Reiner Schmidt studied at the Frankfurt University of Music from 1978 to 1983 and took up the position of first trombonist in the radio orchestra of the Hessian Radio in 1985 . Since 1993 he has been a trombonist in the Frankfurt / Main Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra .

He is co-founder of the “Frankfurt Jazz Big Band” and is also active as an arranger and composer for various formations. He wrote numerous arrangements for the brass ensemble "hr brass", of which he is a member. Schmidt's arrangements of Mozart works were recorded on the CD "Update".

Schmidt works as a lecturer in orchestra workshops, he gives solo and chamber concerts with euphonium, trombone and bass trumpet. Hans-Reiner Schmidt is the winner of the 1st German Baritone Euphonium Competition in Hammelburg 2001; his first solo CD is called "Rhapsody for 2".

Schmidt is the conductor and artistic director of the "Brass Band Hessen" (BBH) founded in 2008.
