Hans-Rudolf Haldimann

Hans-Rudolf Haldimann (born August 24, 1919 in Winterthur ; † April 22, 1998 in Hanover ) was a Swiss electrical engineer and publicist. He was a major pioneer in logistics in Europe.

Life

Hans-Rudolf Haldimann studied electrical engineering at the ETH Zurich and was also an officer in the active service of the transmission troops . He graduated in 1945.

Hans-Rudolf Haldimann then joined SIG in Neuhausen , where he ambitiously managed the development and expansion of the industrial vehicles division. In 1954 he was a founding member of SSRG (Swiss Study Society for Rational Cargo Handling), which was later renamed the Swiss Society for Logistics (SGL) and which has now merged to form GS1. He was also one of the initiators of the establishment of BVL (Bundesvereinigung Logistik eV) in Germany in 1978.

Hans-Rudolf Haldimann made a name for himself across Europe as a creative specialist in floor handling equipment . The development of his own management consultancy, which was driven forward from 1957, was followed by many outstanding business successes in the 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to a lively lecture and journalistic activity, Hans-Rudolf Haldimann was the first a. a. Investigations, planning and implementation of automatic, mechanized warehouses as well as new production techniques for rationalization. He used construction and development activities as a personal hobby. However, he was also interested in business issues such as IT and management techniques as well as organizational methods such as PILOT, RAPSODI or HAMAS. As early as 1970, Hans-Rudolf Haldimann coined the terminology of integral logistics, which today is part of the general state of the art. His knowledge was finally reflected in his long out-of-print standard book on the subject.

Hans-Rudolf Haldimann was also the inventor of numerous logistical aids, all of which were internationally patented.

On May 23, 2017, Hans-Rudolf Haldimann was posthumously inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame Switzerland as the 6th member.
