Hans-Werner Tovar (* 29. July 1948 in Cologne ) is a German politician of the SPD .

Life

Tovar studied law in Cologne from 1973 and passed his second state examination in 1980. In the same year he opened his own law firm and has since worked as an independent lawyer in Kiel. He is a notary and specialist lawyer for family law as well as a family and business mediator (BAFM / CfM) and has been an AG leader in traineeship training since 2005.

Tovar lives with his wife in the Neumühlen-Dietrichsdorf district of Kiel and they have three children together.

Tovar joined the SPD in 1973. In 1986 he became a councilor in Kiel for the first time . He always won his constituency directly. From 1990 to 1994 he was honorary city ​​councilor for housing construction and housing of the city of Kiel, from 1994 to 1996 honorary city councilor (without subject area) and 2nd general deputy of the mayor. He was also parliamentary group leader of the SPD council group and chaired committees as well as spokesman functions of his parliamentary group.

On June 13, 2013, the Kiel council elected him unanimously, with two abstentions, as city ​​president of Kiel.
