Hans-Wilhelm Pietz

Hans-Wilhelm Pietz (* 1956 ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Hans-Wilhelm Pietz studied Protestant theology at the Sprachenkonvikt in Berlin and at the Catechetical College in Naumburg (Saale) . After the vicariate in Freyburg (Unstrut) he became an assistant at the last named educational institution. Between 1986 and 1992 Hans-Wilhelm Pietz worked as a pastor in Forst (Lausitz) , and from 1992 to 1994 he was a lecturer at the Evangelical Preachers' Seminar in Wittenberg . Between 1994 and 2000 he held the provincial pastor's office for education and public relations work in the Evangelical Church of Silesian Upper Lusatia, after which he took over the provincial pastor's office for diakonia and community development. In December 2003, Pietz applied for the bishopric in Berlin and competed against Wolfgang Huber . From 2004 to the end of 2010 he was regional bishop of the Görlitz district of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and so far the only incumbent who has held this title.
