Hans-Wolfgang Krautz (born June 16, 1948 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 17, 2003 ) was a German classical philologist and philosopher .

life and work

Krautz has been teaching Greek, Latin, German and philosophy at the ancient-language Heinrich-von-Gagern-Gymnasium in Frankfurt am Main since the 1960s . In the summer semester 2001 he was appointed lecturer for ancient languages ​​in the Protestant Theology department at the University of Frankfurt am Main . His teaching content included reading and hermeneutic studies. Krautz died on January 17, 2003.

As a high school teacher, Krautz made a name for himself with numerous translations from the ancient languages ​​(including Epicurus and Plato's Protagoras ). His translation of Abelard , which is considered to be the most important German translation of the works of the early scholastic, is particularly well known . On January 8, 2002, Krautz organized a lecture event for German-speaking Abelard translators in Frankfurt.
