Hans Barkowski (born March 12, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German specialist in German studies , philologist , teacher and university professor as well as a specialist author on the subject of German as a second language .

Career

Barkowski worked as a teacher for German as a foreign language at the Goethe Institute and from 1974 to 1981 carried out research projects on teaching-supported second language acquisition for Turkish migrant workers in Germany. From 1982, the year of his doctorate, he began developing the didactic film series Korkmazlar , in which the findings of his research were applied and which was later shown several times on German television.

1985 was his habilitation, in November 1988 Barkowski was appointed to a C3 professorship at the Free University of Berlin . Here he worked at the Institute for Intercultural Education in the training of teachers. Since 1998 he has held a C4 professorship for German as a foreign and second language at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .
