Hans Bols (Carnivalist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Bols (born September 2, 1937 in Krefeld , † August 13, 2005 ibid) was a German hand-made speaker at the Cologne Carnival , known as Et Botterblömche .

Life

The Krefeld master hairdresser Hans Bols was one of the main entertainers and hand-made speakers in the Rhenish carnival for over 30 years. With his character "Et Botterblömche" he also became popular outside of the Rhineland. His trademark was a colorful fabric flower, which he waved during the performance.

He made his first carnival steps at Grün-Weiß Grönland in Krefeld in 1957. As a member, he remained loyal to this carnival society until his death. His success and thus his entry into the Cologne Carnival began with a hand-made speech competition at the WDR , which he won.

After a tax audit in 1998 and a six-year legal dispute, Hans Bols succeeded in asserting that he was classified as an artist under tax law: the performing artist is considered an artist in the legal sense and does not have to pay any trade tax.

Despite serious health problems since 2001, Bols has been on stage again and again. His motto: “The Bütt gives me strength.” He died in 2005 at the age of 67 from the effects of a heart attack.
