Hans Borowik

Hans Borowik (born May 22, 1887 in Charlottenburg , † July 24, 1961 in Basel ) was a German author and sports functional .

Life

In 1905 the German marathon over 40 kilometers was held in Berlin for the second time after 1898, today these runs are regarded as German championships . On April 9, 1905, Robert Petermann won ahead of Hermann Müller from SC Teutonia 99 Berlin and Hans Borowik from SC Charlottenburg . In 1908 Borowik began his work as Carl Diem's private secretary , with whom he then became a lifelong friend. On March 14, 1910, he was appointed the first managing director of the German Sports Authority for Athletics, and he did this part-time job until 1911. Later Borowik was secretary at the German Sports Confederation .

Borowik was in the United States from 1913 to 1921. After his return he became editor of the daily Berliner Sportblatt . In the 1920s, Borowik was also one of the first broadcast speakers in Berlin. Borowik took part in the Summer Olympics as a journalist from 1908 to 1936.

Borowik published numerous sports books between 1923 and 1956, in particular several publications appeared on the occasion of the 1936 Olympic Games. Much of his archive burned down during World War II . His archive, which was rebuilt after the war, was sold by his sisters to the German Sport University in Cologne after his death .
