The SC Teutonia 99 Berlin was a sports club from Berlin .

history

The club was founded in 1899 and initially belonged to the Märkischer Fußball-Bund (MFB). In 1908 the BSC joined Hansa 01 . In the seasons 1909 and 1910 Teutonia 99 played in the 1st class of the MFB, but then descended in lower class leagues. In 1913, Teutonia 99 merged with VfV Berlin to form VfV Teutonia 1899 Berlin . This association merged in June 1933 with the BFC Alliance-Columbia 08 to form VfV Teutonia-Columbia 1899 Berlin , which in turn was renamed VfV 1899 Berlin in 1934. The BFC Alliance-Columbia was created in 1928 from the merger of the SC Alliance 06 and the BFC Columbia 08 .

In the 1936/37 season, VfV 1899 played in Division North C of the II. District Class Berlin. The Christianiastraße sports field, today's Hanne Sobek facility in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen , has been handed down as a venue during this period . VfV 1899 was dissolved in 1944.

Athletics department

The SC Teutonia was not a pure football club, which was relatively rare in the period before the Second World War , but a multi-branch club. Up until the 1920s, track and field athletes were significantly more successful than soccer players. Especially in the middle distance distances (400 m, 800 m, 1500 m) Teutonia 99 was one of the most outstanding clubs in Germany during this time. Athletes like Kristian Hellström , Hermann Engelhard , Reinhold Schmidt , Otto Kohn and Otto Neumann won a total of 13 German championships in the running disciplines. Neumann and Engelhard also took part in the 1928 Olympic Games , where they won the silver medal in the 4 × 400 m relay.

Others

The SC Teutonia 99 and its successor clubs should not be confused with today's SSC Teutonia 99 from Berlin-Spandau .
