Märkische football championship 1909/10
The Brandenburg football championship 1909-10 was the ninth under the Märkischen Football Association (MFB) discharged football championship . The championship was played this season in a group of nine teams in the two legs. In the end, FC Tasmania Rixdorf prevailed and became Märkischer football champions for the second time.
There was a change this season to determine the Berlin participant in the German soccer championship. The master of the Association of Berlin Ball Game Clubs (VBB) was automatically qualified, the champions of the Berlin Ball Game Association and the Association of Berlin Athletics Clubs played for second place on the grid with the Märkischer Meister. After Tasmania Rixdorf drew a bye in the semifinals, the team played against the Berliner Sport-Club in the final, won this game 4: 1 and qualified for the German soccer championship 1909/10 . There Tasmania first had to enter another elimination round, the SV Prussia-Samland Königsberg was the opponent and was beaten away 5-1. In the quarter-finals, the Berlin team then met VfR 1897 Breslau , and the Berlin team also won this game 2-1. In the semifinals Holstein Kiel waited for the Berliners. In the game played in Hamburg, Tasmania had no chance against the strong Kielers and the Berliners lost the semi-finals with 0: 6. Nevertheless, reaching the semi-finals was the greatest success for a club from the Märkischer Fußball-Bund at the German soccer championship.
