Hans Drexler (doctor)

Johann Josef Drexler (born September 11, 1955 in Waldershof ) is a German occupational physician and university professor .

Career

From 1977 to 1984 Drexler studied medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . After working as an assistant doctor in Nuremberg and Augsburg, Drexler worked as a scientific assistant and completed his habilitation in 1994. From 1997 to 2000 Drexler was a university professor and director of the Institute for Occupational Medicine at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen . Drexler has been the director of the institute and polyclinic for occupational, social and environmental medicine at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg since 2000.

In 2009 Drexler was awarded the Bavarian State Medal for Services to Health . In 2018 he received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on the ribbon .

Memberships

Hans Drexler is the deputy chairman of the permanent Senate Commission for the testing of harmful substances of the German Research Foundation . Within the commission he heads the working group “Establishing limit values ​​in biological material”, which among other things develops occupational-medical-toxicological justifications for biological working substance tolerance values and biological working substance reference values . Drexler is also President of the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine .
