Hans Edgar Reis

Hans Edgar Reis ( July 8, 1939 - March 10, 2011 ) was a German physician.

Life

Hans Edgar Rice studied medicine and in 1965 with a thesis on the heterogeneity of Para proteins at the Dusseldorf University for Dr. med. PhD. For many years he was chief physician in internal medicine and director of the Medical Clinic I ( hematology , oncology , gastroenterology ) at the Maria Hilf clinics in Mönchengladbach. In 2004 Reis retired; his successor was Ullrich Graeven.

Special areas of expertise were tumor research and stem cell research . Reis was considered a renowned representative of medical ethics . After his retirement he campaigned for palliative medicine . In 2006 he became a board member of the Grünenthal Foundation for Palliative Medicine. Together with Stephan Langer, he founded the “JaVita” cancer patient escort service and was the winner of the 2009 Best Practice Award from Novartis Oncology and the German Cancer Society (DKG).

Hans Edgar Reis was a Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and a member of the Catholic German Student Union Burgundia (Leipzig) in Düsseldorf in the CV .
