Hans Erich Bogatzky

Hans Erich Bogatzky (born June 12, 1927 in Berlin ; † January 27, 2009 there ) was a German interior architect .

Hans Bogatzky was born in Berlin in 1927. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he attended the Berlin master school for carpenters and interior design from 1949 to 1952. After working as an exhibition designer for a short time, Bogatzky switched to the office of VEB (Z) Projektierung Berlin. His first major task from 1958 was the reconstruction of the east wing of the Humboldt University with the maximum auditorium . This was followed by work on the reconstruction of the old museum.

In 1961 Hans Bogatzky was appointed by Roland Korn , the collective manager for the construction of the State Council building, as its deputy and responsible for interior design. From 1965 to 1970, Bogatzky was still the interior designer responsible for the “Hotel Stadt Berlin” project under Korn's leadership and, from 1968, for the “ House of Travel ” on Alexanderplatz, which was completed in 1971 . His last representative project was the furnishing of the large ballroom and the work rooms of the Politburo in the building of the Central Committee of the SED in 1974/75 in collaboration with Bruno Hess .

In 1976 Hans Bogatzky moved to the Institute for Residential and Social Buildings at the Bauakademie . There he mainly dealt with experimental buildings and standardization guidelines. At the same time, he became involved in the BdA, which appointed him head of the central specialist group for interior design in 1983. In 1990 Hans Bogatzky retired with the winding up of the Bauakademie.
