Hans Fischer (politician, 1929)

Hans Fischer (* 1929 in Stolberg ; † July 15, 2007 ibid) was a German local politician ( SPD ) and honorary mayor of the city of Stolberg.

life and career

Fischer was born in the Münsterbusch district. He graduated from school in Langbroich - Schierhof in 1943 . He then began his professional career at the Deutsche Bundespost . After the death of his father, the then 16-year-old took on responsibility for his family. In 1966, the now rail mail clerk founded the “Öcher Posteljonge” carnival association with some colleagues. Here he was their “postmaster general” for 23 years.

In 1985 Hans Fischer joined the SPD. From 1989 to 2004 he was a member of the city council. In 1994 he was elected mayor of the city of Stolberg , an office he held until 1997. Hans Fischer was the last honorary mayor of the city. Until he left the council, he worked as an honorary deputy mayor.

Hans Fischer died of cancer. He left a wife and a child.
