Hans Frick (officer)

Hans Frick (born March 8, 1888 in Zurich , † June 13, 1975 in Bougy-Villars ) was a Swiss historian and officer.

Life

Frick was born the son of a businessman and his wife; his brother was the lawyer Wilhelm Frick (1894–1961). In the 1930s he moved in the vicinity of his brother's Federal Front .

He studied history at the universities in Zurich and Munich. In 1914 he was in Zurich with a dissertation Johann Conrad Finsler political activity at the time of the Helvetic Republic to Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1911 to 1929 he was an instruction officer in the infantry. In 1928/29 he was assigned to the Italian army. From 1930 to 1938 he was head of the training section, 1938/39 Deputy Chief of the Front and 1940 Chief of Staff of the training group and commander of the Linth group. In 1941 he took over command of the 7th Division. During the Second World War he called for resistance against the Axis powers. After 1945 he was head of training in the Swiss Army .

Several essays on military and military-political issues have appeared by Frick.

Frick was married to Ester, daughter of the historian Wolfgang Friedrich von Mülinen .
