Hans Günter König

Hans Günter König (born January 17, 1925 in Trier ; † December 17, 2007 ) was a German art teacher and painter .

Life

From 1946 König studied at the Werkkunstschule Trier, today's Trier University, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . He completed his studies as a master student with Willi Baumeister in 1950. He then studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . Until 1963 he worked as a high school teacher in Oberlahnstein .

In 1962 he was offered a professorship for subject didactics at the University Institute for Art and Craft Education in Mainz. As director from 1963 to 1972, he initiated the integration of the institute into the University of Mainz (today's successor institution is the Mainz University of Art ). In 1992 he retired .

In 1970, König was chairman of the Art College Rectors' Conference.
