Life

Hans Georg von Osterhausen came from the Saxon-Thuringian noble family Osterhausen and was one of four sons of Hans George von Osterhausen († 1603) and his wife Anna von Werthern .

After an initial lesson by private tutors, Osterhausen came to Schleswig as a page to the court of Duke Friedrich III. from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp . There he was appointed court squire on August 16, 1640 by his employer. In 1651 Osterhausen was awarded the honorary office of a ducal pre-cutter (who pre-cuts the meat dishes). From 1655 to 1660 Osterhausen was the kitchen master of his employer, Duke Friedrich III.

He married Augusta Eleonora von Hertingshausen .

Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Köthen also visited Duke Friedrich III on his great north German trip. from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp. On the occasion of this visit, Osterhausen was accepted into the Fruitful Society in Schleswig with his employer on September 3, 1642 . The prince gave Osterhausen the company name of the most in love and the motto most graceful smell . The yellow fragrant Narciss (Narcissus pseudonarcissus L.) was assigned to him as an emblem . Osterhausen's entry can be found in the Koethen Society Register under no. 395. There, the rhyme law is also noted, which he wrote on the occasion of his admission:

A yellow Narciss grows up in spring, and reuch
Very graceful, the green leaves stand
Raised it straight away: I was handed it
The name fell in love because they see flowers
You can't be without love when it soon creeps in
Gracefully in the smell and soon go on
Want to be in the human being, have the same occupation
Who doesn’t want to be loved in a fruitful way
