Hans Gertzen

Hans Gertzen (born January 22, 1921 in Gelsenkirchen ; † September 7, 1998 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Gertzen completed training as an administrative clerk, which he completed with an administrative examination. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1947.

After his release from captivity, Gertzen continued his education at the Administration Academy and then worked as an administrative clerk at the employment office in Gelsenkirchen.

Political party

Gertzen joined the SPD in 1947.

MP

Gertzen was elected to the Gelsenkirchen City Council in 1952. From 1962 to 1965 he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1980. In parliament he represented the constituency of Gelsenkirchen II .
