Hans Gramm

Hans Gramm (born May 3, 1906 in Hamburg , † September 10, 1967 in Keitum on Sylt ) was a German lawyer.

Life

Gramm completed a law degree at the University of Hamburg and passed the first state examination in law in 1927. This was followed by his preparatory service in the Hamburg Higher Regional Court district. 1929 grams was one of Leo Raape supervised thesis on The essence of the executor a doctorate in law doctorate . After passing the second state examination in law, he began his assessor work in Hamburg in 1931 . From May 1933 he was a judge at the Hamburg District Court . At the beginning of January 1935 he was seconded to the Reich Ministry of Justice, where he was initially an assistant clerk and quickly made a career: in 1937 district court advisor, 1939 senior government advisor and 1941 ministerial advisor. In 1941 he became the first personal assistant to the acting Minister of Justice, Franz Schlegelberger . On July 1, 1941, he joined the NSDAP when higher officials of the ministry expected it. After Schlegelberger's dismissal at the end of 1942, Gramm also left the ministry in February 1943. From March 1943 until his capture in April 1945 he was in the Wehrmacht, most recently as Lieutenant d. R.

After a short career in banking, he worked at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court from late 1946 , most recently as Senate President from October 1953. In 1947 he testified as a witness in the Nuremberg legal process .

In the 1950s he was involved in several international arbitration proceedings. From 1955 to 1964 he was chairman of the Hamburg judges 'association and a member of the judges' selection committee. 1962 Chairman of the Committee for the Reform of Maritime Trade Law , the Association for International Maritime Law and the Committee on the New Regulation of Bills of Lading Liability. In 1963 he became a member of the Hamburg Constitutional Court , in 1964 honorary professor at the University of Hamburg .

Gramm was married twice; the first marriage (1933–1957) had three children.
