Hans HF Henning (born December 16, 1927 in Altenburg ; † 2015 ) was a German German studies scholar and literary historian . From 1966 to 1990 he was director of the central library of the German Classic in Weimar.

Career

Henning's central area of ​​work was Faust research. His work on the historical Faust figure , literary Faust designs and in particular Johann Wolfgang Goethe's Faust began "in the fifties" of the 20th century. One of his main works is the three-part "Faust Bibliography" (1966–1976).

Henning was senior librarian, from 1966 to 1990 director of the central library of the Deutsche Klassik in Weimar and at the same time professor for German studies at the University of Jena . Henning was Vice President of the German Shakespeare Society and Chairman of the German Schiller Foundation Weimar.
