Hans Hindpere

Hans Hindpere (born March 18, 1928 in Jõhvi ; † September 27, 2012 ) was an Estonian composer.

life and work

Hans Hindpere first attended high school in Jõhvi and then the music high school in Tallinn . In 1963 he completed his composition studies with Anatoli Garšnek at the Tallinn State Conservatory (now the Estonian Music and Theater Academy ). From 1962 to 1965 he was a music editor for Estonian television . From 1965 to 1967 Hindpere was artistic director of a cultural palace for young people.

Hindpere also played in numerous musical groups and bands and appeared as a jazz musician. He has composed both popular and serious music . The children's opera Vürst Gabriel (1961), the oratorio Igavene tuli (1971) and his two sonatinas for piano (1960 and 1962) are particularly well-known .
