Hans Hinzpeter

Hans Georg Theodor Hinzpeter (born January 31, 1921 in Berlin ; † December 15, 1999 ) was a German meteorologist .

Life

From 1940 to 1942 he studied meteorology, geophysics, mathematics and physics at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin (1942 diploma). From 1947 to 1950 he was a research assistant at the Main Meteorological Observatory in Potsdam. After receiving his doctorate in 1951 at the Humboldt University in Berlin, he headed the Wahnsdorf weather station from 1958 to 1961 . After completing his habilitation in 1964 at Kiel University , he was Professor of Meteorology at Mainz University from 1970 to 1975 . From 1975 to 1986 he was professor of geophysics, especially meteorology, at the University of Hamburg .
