Hans Hofmann (musician)
Hans (Ernst Johannes) Hofmann (born January 14, 1867 in Borna ; † December 3, 1933 in Leipzig ) was cantor of the St. Pauli University Church in Leipzig, professor and senior teacher at the secondary school in Leipzig. Hofmann studied at the Leipzig Conservatory with Hermann Kretzschmar and Hugo Riemann .
Around the turn of the year 1905/1906, Hans Hofmann took over the office of cantor of the university church from his predecessor Albin Fürchtegott Zehrfeld. This had recently been adopted into retirement. [7]
In 1906 a mixed choir was institutionalized under him as the University Church Choir of St. Pauli on an academic basis.
His successor as cantor at the University Church of St. Pauli was Friedrich Rabenschlag in 1933 .
Hofmann lived from 1910 to 1933 in Oetzsch , the later district of Markkleeberg .
