Hans Joachim Ritz

Hans Joachim Ritz (born May 22, 1923 in Meiningen ; † May 7, 1998 Weissach ) was a German SS-Untersturmführer and employed as an adjutant to the camp commandant in the Dora labor camp as well as in the Ellrich-Juliushütte subcamp .

Life

Ritz, a trained banker, had been a member of the Waffen SS since 1941 . In September 1943, Ritz was transferred to the Dora labor camp by the Economic and Administrative Main Office (WVHA) and at the same time was adjutant to camp commandant Otto Förschner until April 1944. Subsequently, until September 1944, Ritz was camp manager of the Ellrich-Juliushütte subcamp. Afterwards Ritz was transferred to Bad Tölz to the SS-Führerreserve.

After the end of the war, Ritz, about whom no negative statements are available, was not prosecuted. Ritz and three other accused were removed from the list of accused in the Nordhausen main trial at the request of the prosecution's representatives. He was questioned several times in the 1960s.
