Hans Karl Schaller (born July 27, 1960 in Freistadt ) is an Upper Austrian trade unionist and politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Schaller was born in 1960 in Freistadt and learned after the General compulsory school the profession of operating locksmith . From 1982 he worked as a technician at voestalpine in Linz and during this time completed several courses at the master's school in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering and at the social academy in Mödling .

Union and politics

The union activity Schaller began in the voestalpine , where he since 1986 first as a shop steward acted and from 1993 to 1999 as a works council. From 1993 to 1999 he was parliamentary group chairman of the workers' works council and then until 2005 chairman of PRO-GE voestalpine ( production union ). In 2004 he also became a member of the Chamber of Labor in Upper Austria . He was also a member of the state presidium of the trade union for metal, textiles and food .

From 2004 he was an employee representative on the supervisory boards of voestalpine AG and voestalpine Stahl GmbH. In 2008 he became chairman of the group works council and since 2012 also deputy chairman of the supervisory board.

Schaller was Vice President of the Chamber of Labor Upper Austria for two years. In 2009 he became state chairman and deputy national chairman of the PRO-GE union.

From 1997 to 2009, Schaller was active on the Linz municipal council . In November 2011 he was sworn in as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament .
