Hans Klecker (born August 4, 1948 in Obercunnersdorf ) is a German Upper Lusatian dialect poet, researcher, entertainer and traditional expert.

Life

From 1955 to 1965 Hans Klecker attended the Polytechnic Oberschule in Obercunnersdorf. In 1968 he completed his vocational training as a weaving specialist with high school diploma in the company school of the VEB Bunt- und Velvet Weaving Mill in Seifhennersdorf. This was followed by studies at the TU Dresden with the award of the academic degree "Diplomchemiker". In 1973 he moved to Zittau and worked until 1996 as a technologist or department head at VEB Lautex Neugersdorf and Lautex AG and from 1996 as a freelance stage artist, oral humorist, wedding bitter, solo entertainer and agent for artists of all genres. He appears exclusively in traditional Upper Lusatian costume or slips into the clothing of an Upper Lusatian original, a historical person or a legendary figure. He wrote the first dialect poems in 1970.

Hans Klecker has been involved in the down-to-earth culture of Upper Lusatia in a wide range of ways since 1973 and is currently a member of seven clubs, associations and interest groups. 1980 completed the course “Special School Spielmeister” of the Dresden Cultural Academy with the rating “very good”. He is co-organizer of the "Heimat- und Folkloreage der Oberlausitz" and the "Family fun with robber chief Karasek". So far he has published 22 books and two CDs. He wrote about 1,500 poems, stories, short scenes and lyrics, mostly in the Upper Lusatian dialect. Some of his songs have been published on sound carriers by Kathrin and Peter (Oberlausitzer Quirle) and by Hans Pittermann (Musikantenhansel). Klecker tries to combine Upper Lusatian humor with serious local history research.

For his collection of countless dialect words and idioms and the publication of the Upper Lusatian dictionary with around 15,000 headwords, he was awarded the 3rd prize of the Saxon State Prize for Local Research in 2010 . The dictionary is available on the Internet and is edited and expanded weekly with the help of those interested in dialect. Klecker is one of three co-initiators of the Upper Lusatia Day, which will be celebrated annually on August 21 from 2014 onwards. In 2014, in recognition and appreciation of his services to Upper Lusatia and its people, he received the Lausitz-Dank in Gold, the highest award of the Lusatia-Verband e. V. Hans Klecker is married and has an adult son with a family. He is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony.
