Hans Kolde

Hans Kolde (* March 1925 in Esens ) is a former pilot and flight instructor who has campaigned in various ways for the interests of the island of Juist .

Life

During his military service, he became a flight instructor and pilot and started the first test courses for glider flying on Juist after the war . In 1956, with his participation, the Segelflughorst was established as a forerunner of the youth training center Theodor Wuppermann eV He directed this institution for many years.

From 1982 he took over the honorary management of the Juister Coast Museum and expanded it into a place of education and learning, organized regular art exhibitions and built and looked after various art archives. He also founded the Juist Foundation and was co-editor of the Strandlooper , a seasonal magazine on the North Sea island of Juist. He has also made a name for himself as an island historian.

Honors

In 1983 Hans Kolde received the Federal Cross of Merit , in 1988 he received the Upstalsboomtaler of the East Frisian Landscape for special achievements in the field of culture, and in 1996 he was also made an honorary citizen of the islands of Hiddensee and Juist.
