Hans Kruse (born April 22, 1882 in Iserlohn , † September 27, 1941 in Vienna ) was a local researcher from Siegerland, teacher and director of the Siegerland Museum and the Siegen City Archives .

Life

Hans Kruse, came from an entrepreneurial family in Iserlohn. His mother Hedwig came from the well-known Siegerland official and theologian family Achenbach. He attended high school in Dillenburg and, after graduating from high school, began a commercial apprenticeship in a bank in Düsseldorf in 1901. In 1902 he enrolled at the University of Marburg, later also in Leipzig and Berlin for history, German studies and theology. He became a member of the Association of German Student Associations . In 1906 he received his doctorate in Marburg with the dissertation "Forestry and Industry in the former Principality of Nassau-Siegen". In 1907 he passed the philological state examination and entered higher education. In 1910 he became a senior teacher at the Siegen high school for girls.

In 1911, Kruse was a co-founder of the Association for Local Lore and Homeland Security in Siegerland, which later became the Siegerland Homeland and History Association. In 1920 he was the founder of the Siegerland home calendar . Among other things, he organized the 700th anniversary of the city of Siegen in 1924.

Kruse had been a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia since May 9, 1913, and a committee member since 1925.

In 1927 Kruse became the full-time museum director of the Siegerland Museum . In 1937 he was a co-founder of the Association of Friends and Patrons of the Siegerland Museum . He was the first full-time city archivist of Siegen.

Kruse was a member of the German People's Party (DVP) and city councilor in Siegen.
