Hans Loubier

Hans Loubier , until 1914 Jean Loubier ; full name Emil Ludwig Johannes Loubier , (born April 9, 1863 in Berlin , † June 23, 1931 ) was a German librarian and binding researcher .

Life

From 1883 Loubier studied modern philology and German studies in Berlin, Heidelberg and Halle , where he received his doctorate in 1890. After working in the book trade, he was the librarian of the Lipperheidesche costume library in Berlin from 1892 . In 1895 he became a research assistant at the art library in Berlin, in 1896 assistant director there, and in 1909 curator. In 1906 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1927 he retired.

Loubier mainly dealt scientifically with bookbinding and book art and, through his writings, had a great influence on the development of book art in Germany in the early 20th century.
