Hans Heinrich Herrmann Eduard Mützel (born November 2, 1867 in Königsberg iN ; † July 20, 1928 in Berlin ) was a painter , draftsman and art writer.

Life

The son of the animal painter Gustav Mützel with Anna Schönherr was a student of W. Friedrich and Max Friedrich Koch at the educational institute of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin . Since a trip to Italy (1904) he has been painting with preference Italian motifs (Tribuna of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, St. Mark's Square in Venice, St. John's Night in Rome, etc.). In 1905 he switched to portraiture and painted many representatives of Berlin society.

As a writer, he was often active in feuilleton, but still wrote some valuable special works on costume studies, some of which he illustrated himself.

Hans Mützel lived in Berlin-W., Kleiststr. 39 and later in Berlin-Schöneberg, Mühlenstr. 7. He was married to Gertrud Hempel (born September 5, 1868, † February 27, 1952). The marriage remained childless.

Hans Mützel was buried in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf , Charlottenburg garden block, II garden point 172/173. The coat of arms of the Mützel family adorns the gravestone.
