Hans Marek

Hans Marek (* 1923 in Kscheutz , Czechoslovakia ; † March 11, 2006 in Pasing ) was a German painter .

life and work

Hans Marek was born in the Bohemian village of Kscheutz in 1923. Growing up in his parents' small farm, he drew and painted a lot in nature from the start. From 1939 to 1941 he studied stage design at the arts and crafts school in Leipzig. In 1942 he was called up for military service, then in 1945 as a prisoner of war as a soldier in Italy.

After the war he studied painting from 1946 to 1951 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1951 Marek worked as a cinema poster painter, from 1957 to 1982 as a permanent technical draftsman. In 1982 he took early retirement and from then on devoted himself exclusively to artistic creation.
